CLUB HISTORY
History (26/06/06)

Bourne Town Juniors FC was formed in 1978 by its current club president Mr Ian Sharkey. They started playing on the historic Wellhead in the centre of Bourne, which was not the ideal surface to play on.

The club's aim has always been to provide the opportunity to football for every child in Bourne and the surrounding villages whether on a casual or competitive basis. Bourne Town Juniors FC is one of the largest youth organisations in the area with over 250 youngsters registered with the club. Our standards of discipline and respect for others remain paramount as society struggles to keep itself in check and not only are we trying to improve our members ability on the field but also to prepare them socially for life ahead.

The Club has currently over 15 boys teams ranging from under 6's to under 16's and girls teams ranging from under 11's to adults.

The need to obtain more playing area has seen the club join forces with our Rugby counterparts at Milking Nook Drove to form the Bourne Sports Club. This not only gives us a clubhouse that we have never had, but also 3.5 acres of previously unused grassland which has been turned into pitches to accomodate the growing number of teams and makes a spendid venue for our highly acclaimed end of season tournament.

Paul Bennett (11/01/10)

Tributes

Having recently joined the club to assist Paul in the running of the then U11's and then taking over after Pauls diagnosis it was apparent what great dedication he had not only to the team that he had nutured from from a young age but to the club as a whole. Not only did Paul pass on his vast experience in football terms but of a greater importance was bringing up the lads in terms of passing on lifes skills as they enter their new phase of life, Respect, discipline, motivation to do the best you can do are typical examples.
As a team we are devastated to lose Paul in such a tragic way but nothing is comparable to the loss Julie, Damien, Matt and Hannah must be feeling.
Please remember the good times - the times when he made you laugh and the enjoyment you had in your time together.
The rest of the season will be played in the honour of Paul - win, lose or draw and we will draw great motivation in what he did for the team. As I said at the presentation night last year this is not my team but PAUL BENNETT'S team and always will be.
Our heartfelt sympathies go to you Julie, Damien, Matt and Hannah - take inspiration from that he was a top guy with a heart of gold.
RIP Paul
Richard Arnold and all the lads from the U13's

A quiet, unassuming,no fuss young gentleman who enjoyed the utmost respect from the young boys he coached and the respect he received from his fellow committee members. His dedication and enthusiasm to our Club was an enormous example to us all.
To Julie Damien Matthew and Hannah we can only express our sorrow for the loss of someone we all had the highest regard for,he will be sadly missed by us all..
Ian Sharkey (Club President)

You had a major influence installing the principles I have today of not concentrating purely on results and ensuring that what we do is primarily for the kids and not 'trophy hunting' for our own satisfaction and acclaim. I think your approach can be summed up with a motto: 'Concentrate on improving the skills of each individual and the results will eventually take care of themselves.'
You only had to be at Presentation Evening (2009) to see exactly how much you meant to your players and is the most emotional moment I have ever known in junior football.
Rest in peace mate.
Andy Hammond

We were sad to hear of the loss of Paul. Although we didn't know Paul well, it was clear that he was passionate about football, dedicated to his team and highly thought of. Whenever we saw Paul, he would ask about the Girls teams and always showed an interest.
Our thoughts are with Paul's family.
Tina & Paul Crawley, Bourne Ladies
