Report

The Reds completed their league campaign with an emphatic victory against a good Arsenal team. Their excellent performances of late continued with a great display of team play.
With only three minutes on the clock, early pressure by the Reds resulted in an Arsenal defender handling in the box. Subsequently, Luke Edwards dispatched the resultant spot kick into the back of the net. The greater energy levels certainly didn’t give Arsenal a look in. On the six minute mark, Casey Machin superbly controlled a pass from Omar Hinks and played a great ball to Edwards who scored his second goal of the match.  After the early domination by the Reds, Arsenal gradually played themselves back in the game. Jacob Crosby in the Bourne goal made a superb save to push a shot round the post. The Reds responded well to the increased pressure with a great move seeing Edwards finding Machin who coolly finished.
Credit to Arsenal they did not let their heads drop, they came out in the second half all guns blazing. Crosby in the Reds goal had to be at his best to knock a great effort past the post. Adam James who was introduced for the injured Bobby Clark, was at his tenacious best defending superbly when under pressure. On 27 minutes a Reds counter attack ended with Machin showing great pace and awareness to score his second goal of the match and the team’s fourth.
A late consolation goal was the only blemish from what was a magnificent Reds performance.
Coach Steve Bills said “the squad deserve huge credit for the great entertainment and excellent performances they have produced this season”.
