BTJ Blues U/9 2 v 3 Woodston Dynamo.
What a difference a year makes! The Blues started their campaign, this year, brilliantly. Although the score went against them, the quality of play was excellent compared to this time last year. The game was very tight all the way through with Woodston taking the lead with a cracking shot from distance. The Blues kept their heads high and a surging run from Ben Hill resulted in him being tripped in the box. James Moss coolly stepped up to fire home the equaliser. A lapse in concentration allowed Woodston straight back into the lead, just before half time. The Blues continued to battle bravely, in the second half, with the strenght of James Hammond in midfield and the strong tackling of George Burke, Woodston's chances were limited. Scott Buxton, in goal, then created the equaliser by playing a lovely ball down the line which Joe Thompson latched onto and with the Woodston defence and goaly closing in he cooly slotted home. The Blues celebrated what looked liked being an excellent result but their deserved point was snatched away in the dying moments when a Woodston corner cruelly deflected into the Bourne net off one of their own players.
The friendly ended 1 v 0 to Woodston with the highlights being Dominic Townsends tackling, Samuel Payne and Oliver Charnocks enthusiasm.
