B.T.J.Blues 2 v 3 Wisbech
The interesting question for the Blues was how they would react after their succesful tour in the Holland Easter Classic Tournament. They had the extra incentive of the Wisbech manager discribing his team as joint best in the league with Bourne Reds before the game had even started. Now in their last meeting the Blues were the match for Wisbech but couldn't convert their chances but this game proved different. Wisbech are another team who have done well in the league due to one or two individual's who can strike a ball and they have succeded in games that could have been closer. The Blues dominated the first half playing some fantastic football and soon found themselves one up due to some beautiful passing through Thompson, Hart, Fountain and Hutchinson which saw Miller smash the ball into the top of the net. Wisbech drew level with a fantastic strike from 25 yards and then took the lead through a 30 yard strike both being excellent goals. The Blues could have dropped their heads but the style of their football have been so encouraging it was no surprise when another flowing move resulted in a leveller. Moss passed to Cotton who played in Miller down the line, his cross into the box was met superbly by the excellent run of Ryan Hutchinson, goal. The Wisbech manager marched his team straight into the dressing room at half time whilst the Blues had plenty to discuss from an excellent half.
The second half was a more even affair but no less exciting but unfortunately it was Wisbech who sneaked the winner even though the Blues threw 10 players at throw ins and corners near the end. This was an excellent team display but special mention to Aaaron Fleet who was sublime as swepper for the Blues. Well done lads on the best pwrfomanmce of the season.
