Highs and Lows
Saturday mornings are a treat,
as my boy puts on his football feet.
The shirt goes on and he grins with pride he loves to play for his side.
We cheer our boys and jeer the rest,
as we hit the bar or post at best.
We blame one another or the wind and rain, the referee...his decisions in vain.
Fans on the touchline shouting and screaming, then the ball goes in and he stands there beaming!
My boys' a hero his team mates shout,
the opposition sunk without a doubt.
They look dejected with shoulders low,
can they overcome this bitter blow?
The whistle goes and we win 1-0
a cheer goes up, oh what a thrill!
Next week might not be the same
sometimes we forget its only a game.
Remember parents, your boys are the best no matter the colour on their chest.
